BELMONT - Southwest Badger Resource Conservation and Development Council Inc. will host a Weed Workshop from 8:30 a.m. to noon April 14 at the Belmont Community Building, 222 S. Mound Ave. Light refreshments will be served.
Non-native invasive weeds can overtake native plants and reduce the amount of food and cover available for native animals and insects. The workshop will help citizens learn how to identify and manage terrestrial and aquatic invasive plants and restore areas to a healthy natural state using native plants. Attendees also will learn how to report what they find to state invasive species coordinators, who generate comprehensive data and maps.
If management costs are a concern, attendees can learn about cost-sharing programs to help them effectively control invasive plants on their land.
RSVP by April 9 to Jeff Jackson at jeff.jackson@swbadger.org.
