Amalia Perry recently began her new role as the Executive Director of United Way of Green County. With a strong background in communications, non-profit work, and writing, Perry is excited to lead United Way in Green County.

“I started off strong right out of the gate coordinating United Way’s annual golf outing which will be held on Friday, July 24th at the Monroe Golf Club,” she said. “It is exciting to see such strong area commitment for this fundraising event and I am grateful for the support of Teresa Keehn in helping me take the reins in my new role.”

Perry’s strong desire to work in the nonprofit arena and her background in teaching dovetails with United Way’s mission: “building a stronger community by uniting people and resources to solve problems and improve lives.” Her skills and commitment to Green County’s needs, will enable United Way of Green County to continue to serve area needs and build strong community relationships to attain a greater good.

Perry is a graduate of the University of Iowa. During her college career she studied English with an emphasis on Creative Writing. She was selected by the University of Iowa’s English faculty to be one of two students to attend Iowa at Oxford’s program in England. There she studied English Literature and Poetry. In her spare time, she enjoys songwriting and singing, along with spending time with her horses. An avid equestrian, Perry also loves to share her knowledge of the horse with the public. She started riding at the age of four and now as an adult has many National Championships with her Arabian gelding Super Nova PR. She served on the Arabian Horse Association’s (AHA) Youth Board and enjoys teaching others the joy of horseback riding.
