The School District of Monroe invites students, families, alumni, community members and project partners to join in celebrating the grand opening of the new Monroe High School on Thursday, August 13. The announcement was made at the July 13 Board of Education meeting.
Also at the Board meeting on Monday, July 13, the district settled on a time and date for its Annual Meeting to finalize the budget for the 2026-2027 school year. The meeting will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, October 19 at the Bauer Education Center.
Developed through a collaborative partnership between the School District of Monroe, Huffman Keel, Plunkett Raysich Architects, LLP (PRA) and CG Schmidt, the new high school represents a significant investment in the future of Monroe students and the community for generations to come.
The celebration will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the new Monroe High School, located at 1004 31st Ave., Monroe. A ceremonial ribbon cutting is planned at the front entrance of the building, weather permitting, followed by a self-guided tour of the new facility. If inclement weather requires the ceremony to move indoors, the ribbon cutting will be held in the M-Room. Parking will be available on campus, and guests are encouraged to carpool to help accommodate event parking.
“The opening of our new high school marks an exciting milestone for the School District of Monroe and our entire community,” said Superintendent Joe Monroe. “Our new high school was designed to create welcoming, flexible learning environments that support every student’s journey while encouraging collaboration, creativity and innovation. We are grateful to everyone who played a role in bringing this project to life and look forward to opening our doors to the community as we celebrate this exciting milestone together.”
The roadwork on the newly updated Cheesemaker Drive, 32nd Avenue and 31st Avenue from 6th Street to 12th Street is essentially completed, with sidewalks installed along 10th Street, 31st and 32nd Avenues.
