One of three defendants facing multiple charges, including felony child neglect, appeared in Green County Circuit Court Monday, June 20.

The case originated via a child welfare call to a dilapidated property in Browntown that some residents in the small, tight-knit community contend is an eyesore and a hazard.

Wearing street clothes, Randy L. Boeck, 66, attended Monday’s preliminary hearing in the case before Judge Jane Bucher. Boeck was free on a $5,000 signature bond, posted shortly after his arrest.

Following questioning by the judge to determine if he understood his rights and the legal ramifications of his decision, the defendant waived his right to a preliminary hearing and a plea was entered through his attorney, Joseph Clark.

“We’ll be entering a plea of not guilty to all charges,” said Clark.

Those charges include felony child neglect; and two misdemeanors, possession of THC and possession of drug paraphernalia. The incident culminating in the arrests began when Green County deputies were dispatched to Browntown early last spring.

“On Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Green County Sheriff’s Office executed a residential search warrant in the 200 block of W South Street, in the Village of Browntown,” Green County Sheriff Cody Kanable said, in a press release. “The search warrant stemmed from an investigation into suspected child neglect.”

The defendant, meanwhile, is no stranger to police.

Boeck has ongoing court cases stemming from a retail theft incident in which he was found guilty in 2023 of the same crime Then, in 2025, he faced charges of disorderly conduct and bodily harm or threat to an employee of a health care facility or family. He pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge. (A felony charge of bodily harm/threat was dismissed but read in at sentencing).

He is scheduled to appear in court again for a pre-trial conference on August 25.

Brittany L. Boeck, 33, and Chad D. Olson, 35 are the other two defendants.

Brittany Boeck is charged with two felony counts of endangerment of a child with a disability or under age 6, and one misdemeanor count of child endangerment. She last appeared in court on June 19, when she was bound over for trial and not guilty pleas entered on her behalf.

Her next appearance is set for August 17.

Olson, who had a court hearing scheduled for July 21, is charged with a felony count of endangerment of a child with a disability or under age 6, and a misdemeanor count of child endangerment. He last appeared in court on June 19 for a preliminary hearing, in which he also was bound over for trial; and not guilty pleas entered on her behalf.

The sheriff’s office conducted its investigation with the Green County Human Services — Children, Youth, and Family unit. Others helping investigate and respond include Browntown Fire Department, Green County EMS, and the Green County Health Department.
