Open house to honor Meier's 90th

SOUTHWAYNE - Mildred Meier, a long time area resident will turn 90 on Oct. 28. Her family with host an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at Marty's Village Inn, South Wayne. The public is invited. No formal invitations will be sent. Please no gifts.

Mildred was married to Walter Meier for 55 years until his death in January of 1994. In 1952 Mildred and Walter moved to the farm where she had been born. Mildred still manages the farm and does all of her own housework.

Mildred has four children: Gene (Deb) Golackson, Freeport; Jan Helwig, Dodgeville; Jerry Meier, Fort Atkinson; and Jim (Connie) Meier, South Wayne. She has 16 grandchildren (1 deceased), 24 great-grandchildren (1 deceased) and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Mildred worked for Swiss Colony for 12 years and made many friends there. As a lifetime member of Jordan Lutheran Church, Mildred has been very active in all of the activities there, including quilting.
