NGHS students continue to excel on Advanced Placement exams

New Glarus High School students once again demonstrated exceptional academic achievement during the 2025—2026 Advanced Placement (AP) testing season, earning an impressive 93.23% overall pass rate on AP exams. A score of 3 or higher on an AP exam is considered a qualifying score by the College Board and is recognized by many colleges and universities for college credit and advanced placement.

Only 9 exams scored below 3, highlighting the outstanding preparation and dedication of New Glarus students and staff.

The school’s overall 93.23% pass rate significantly exceeded both the Wisconsin average of 78.18% and the global average of 72.45%.

A total of 133 AP exams were administered across 10 Advanced Placement courses, with students earning:

● 39 scores of 5 (Extremely Well Qualified)

● 49 scores of 4 (Well Qualified)

● 36 scores of 3 (Qualified)

Several AP courses achieved a 100% pass rate, including:

● AP Biology

● AP Calculus AB

● AP Calculus BC

● AP Computer Science Principles

● AP Precalculus

Additional outstanding performances included:

● AP Psychology: 95.5% pass rate (44 exams)

● AP U.S. History: 93.3% pass rate

● AP Literature: 92.3% pass rate

● AP Chemistry: 91.3% pass rate

● AP Statistics: 81.3% pass rate

“These results are a testament to the hard work of our students, the dedication of our outstanding teachers, and the strong academic culture that exists at New Glarus High School,” said Principal Jeff Worzella. “Our students continue to challenge themselves with rigorous college-level coursework while achieving results that far exceed state and global averages. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments.”

Strong AP performance can lead to college credit, advanced placement in university coursework, and significant savings on future college tuition.
