Juda FFA Chapter students compete in speaking contests

MONTICELLO - The Juda FFA Chapter had 13 members participate in the District 13 FFA Speaking Contests on Jan. 23 at Monticello School.

The Quiz Bowl competition involved contestants answering questions about many aspects of FFA at the state and national levels. Juda's team consisted of Clayton Mahlkuch, Rachel McCullough, Mariah Riese, Maddie Roth and Justy Roth. They advanced through three rounds of competition to win first place, edging out the Monroe team by one point in the finals.

Tabatha Davis placed first in Prepared Public Speaking, with her speech titled, "Why Genetics?" Brianna Knudtson placed first in the Job Interview competition, and Joel Dieckhoff placed first in the Extemporaneous Speaking contest and the Discussion Meet competition. Alyssa Cramer placed second in Extemporaneous Speaking. Contestants that place first or second will advance to the sectional competition, which will be held on March 18 in Monroe.

Jason Roth competed in the Public Speaking Contest with his speech titled, "World Hunger." Dieckhoff and Kayla Niedermeier also competed in the Creed Speaking competition where they recited, from memory, the FFA Creed and answered three related questions. Kelsey Cramer participated in the Discussion meet competition.
