County Dems to meet for fundraiser

MONROE - The Democratic Party of Green County will hold its Spring Forward fundraiser from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 23 at the Monroe Art Center, 1315 11th St. Everyone is welcome. Cost is $25 per person suggested, or donation accepted. Meet and mingle with 80th Assembly District candidate Janice Ringhand and Green County Sheriff candidate Jeff Skatrud as well as Democratic candidates for statewide offices.

The Proclaimers to perform at church

MONROE - The Proclaimers, a drama team from Northland International University of Dunbar, will be performing at 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 19, at First Baptist Church, 853 31st Ave. Northland is a fundamental Baptist institution involved in the training of full-time Christian leaders. The group is on tour for two weeks, visiting churches and schools in Wisconsin and Illinois. Their program includes drama and music. The public is invited.

Evansville

Benefit for Hulbert will be Saturday

EVANSVILLE - A benefit for Karl Hulbert, Albany, will be held beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 22, at GeneO's Wild Ride Saloon, (formerly the Red Barn), 7530 County M, Evansville. Karl worked at Varco Pruden in Evansville for the last 15 years. He and his wife, Bobbie, have five boys, Cole, Lance, Bryce, Kyle and Clay. Recently, Karl had a stroke.

Admission (includes a pig roast dinner) is $10 for adults and $5 for children age 12 and under. An auction will begin at 7 p.m. with DJ Tom Graebner. Monetary donations are being accepted at First Banking Center, atten: Sharon Pryce, P.O. Box 69, Albany, WI 53502. Argyle

Vacation Bible School is June 7-11

ARGYLE - Cornerstone Lutheran Church, Argyle, is hosting Vacation Bible School June 7 to 11. It is free to all children, preschool through sixth grade. Participants do not need to be a member of the church. The Timothy Team from AFLBS College will be providing Christian education, crafts, games, lunch, snacks and friendship from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is no charge for Vacation Bible school. Registrations are due by May 28.

Orangeville

Applications for scholarship taken

ORANGEVILLE - The trustees of the Harry R. and Gertrude Zweifel Trust announce that applications for educational grants are now available for the 2010-11 school year. Applicants must have graduated from Orangeville High School after April 1, 2007 unless they served in the military within the four years immediately following their high school graduation.

Zweifel Trust Grants may be used for approved study at technical and vocational schools, as well as study at colleges or universities.

Applications may be downloaded from the Zweifel Trust Web site at www.zweifeltrust.org. Applications will be available at the Orangeville High School counseling office until June 1.

The application deadline is August 2.

New Glarus

Anderson named to beef board

NEW GLARUS - U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack recently appointed Wisconsin beef producer Martin Anderson to a three-year term on the Cattlemen's Beef Promotion & Research Board, which oversees administration of the national Beef Checkoff Program.

Anderson participated in new-member orientation in Denver in April and will be seated for his first meeting of the full Beef Board at the Cattle Industry Summer Conference in Denver on July 31.

He is a cow/calf producer and an active member of a number of organizations, including the American Angus Association, Wisconsin Angus Association, Wisconsin Cattlemen's Association, American Society of Animal Science, Wisconsin Beef Industry Council and American Feed Industry Association.
