MONROE — The Monroe Wrestling Club is open to all interested youth wrestlers in grades K-8. Wrestlers do not have to go to Monroe schools to participate.

The goal of the program is to expose kids to youth amateur wrestling in a positive environment. Practices will involve basic wrestling skills from three positions: top, bottom, and standing position. Conditioning, games, drills and live wrestling will help develop proper technique while keeping the practice atmosphere fun.

A parent information and registration meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Oct. 19 at the MWC building, 1024 4th Ave. West. Enter through the South door.

Register a wrestler, hear about the upcoming season, get questions answered as well as any other Q & A that needs to be addressed. There will also be donated wrestling shoes available in various sizes. It is advised to bring a chair to the meeting.

First practices begin November 7 and 9 from 6-7:30 p.m. for grades 3-8. Grades K-2 will be from 6-7 p.m. November 8 and 10. Practices are held at MWC.

There is a registration Fee of $200, and MWC is offering families a multiple wrestler discount. Monroe Middle School wrestlers receive a discounted price if starting MWC after MMS season is done.

Registration fee includes USA Card, Team t-shirt, Gavin Breadon Memorial Youth Wrestling Tournament (Jan. 22, 2023 at Monroe High School) fee, and a water bottle.
