WIAC

MADISON — Former University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh gymnast Rahdea Jarvis and UW-River Falls women’s ice hockey student-athlete Callie Hoff have been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) nominees for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

Now in its 32nd year, the NCAA Woman of the Year Award honors the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions. By submitting nominations, institutions and conferences have the opportunity to recognize female student-athletes who best exemplify a commitment to these four areas.

To be eligible, a nominee must have competed and earned a varsity letter in an NCAA-sponsored sport; must have completed eligibility in her primary sport; must have earned her undergraduate degree no later than the summer 2022 term; and must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.50 on a 4.00 scale.

Jarvis, a native of Brookfield, Wis. (Central) and member of the women’s gymnastics team, graduated in May and compiled a 3.68 cumulative grade point average, while majoring in business administration. She was named to the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) All-America in Academics Team in 2022 and the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association Scholastic All-America Team in 2020 and 2021. Jarvis is a three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.

A two-time All-American, Jarvis helped UW-Oshkosh win the 2022 NCGA championship and WIAC titles in 2020 and 2022. She finished fifth in the country on the uneven bars this past season as the Titans captured the NCGA title with a Division III-record score of 194.100. She also competed on the vault and in the floor exercise at the national meet for UW-Oshkosh, which claimed the third NCGA championship in program history and first since 2007.

Jarvis, who collected her first All-America honor by placing eighth on the vault at the 2019 NCGA Championship, earned five All-WIAC awards during her career - floor exercise (2020), uneven bars (2019, 2022) and vault (2020, 2021).

She attended the 2020 NCAA Career in Sports Forum and represented UW-Oshkosh at the 2019 WIAC Student-Athlete Leadership Conference. She was named the winner of the 2022 UW-Oshkosh Phyllis Roney Senior Coaches Award.

Jarvis, whose volunteering efforts include assisting at the Oshkosh Food Pantry and mentoring at Oakwood Elementary School in Oshkosh, has held internships with UW-Oshkosh Athletics, Oshkosh Arena and Titan Property Management.

A native of Hermantown, Minn. (Proctor-Hermantown), Hoff graduated this spring with a 3.76 cumulative grade point average, while majoring in elementary education with a minor in early childhood. She secured a spot on the 2021-22 NCAA Division III Academic All-America ® Women’s At-Large Second Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Hoff is a four-time AHCA All-American Scholar and WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.

Hoff was named the 2022 American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Laura Herd Player of the Year and received CCM/AHCA All-America First Team accolades. She also claimed WIAC Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive season.

Throughout her five seasons at UW-River Falls, Hoff guided the Falcons to four WIAC regular-season and three WIAC Tournament/O’Brien Cup championships, as well as three appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament. While skating in 120 career games, Hoff is the program’s all-time leading scorer with 197 points on 97 goals and 100 assists. During her final season, Hoff was the NCAA Division III leading scorer with 67 points off 26 goals and 41 assists, a UW-River Falls single-season record.

The 2021-22 Falcon Awards Female Athlete of the Year, Hoff is a two-time All-American and five-time All-WIAC honoree.

Her volunteering efforts included student teaching at an elementary school, Trick or Treat for Canned Goods, girls youth hockey player development director and working with local adults and youth with disabilities through the BRIDGE program. She was a member of UW-River Falls’ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Student-Athlete Success Committee.

All conference-level nominations will be forwarded to the NCAA Woman of the Year Selection Committee, which will choose the top 10 honorees in each of the three NCAA divisions. The NCAA will announce the Top 30 honorees on ncaa.org in October.

From those 30 candidates, the selection committee determines the top three finalists in each division. The NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics will select the Woman of the Year from the nine finalists. The 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced during an award ceremony at the NCAA Convention in January.

Jarvis and Hoff were selected from a list of Individuals from the conference that included: UW-La Crosse’s Hannah Zenkovich (Antigo, Wis./Antigo - track & field); UW-Oshkosh’s Leah Porath (New London, Wis./New London - basketball); UW-Platteville’s Brianna Leahy (Shullsburg, Wis./Shullsburg - track & field); and UW-Stevens Point’s Anna Pilecky (DeForest, Wis./DeForest - swimming & diving).
