Pecatonica, Belleville score dramatic walk-off wins

BLANCHARDVILLE — The Pecatonica Vikings rallied with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a 6-5 win over the River Ridge Timberwolves in Six Rivers conference baseball on Monday, April 20.

The Vikings trailed 5-4 to begin the seventh inning when starting pitcher Austin Enloe led off the inning with a walk. First baseman Reid Schlimgen followed with a base hit. Shortstop Ashton McNett walked to load the bases. Catcher Cooper Schraepfer singled to drive in a run and tie the game 5-5. Schlimgen scored the winning run on a ball hit by centerfielder Kale Hendrickson that was misplayed for an error by the Timberwolves.

Schlimgen went 2x3 and scored three times for Pecatonica. Enloe was 1x3 with a walk and two runs scored. Schraepfer had three hits, including a double and two RBIs.

Enloe pitched 5.2 innings and allowed five runs on six hits, three walks and five strikeouts. McNett pitched an inning-and-a-third and allowed no hits or walks with one strikeout.

Pecatonica (3-1, 3-0) traveled to Barneveld for a Six Rivers conference game on Tuesday, April 21 before hosting Belmont for another conference game on Friday, April 24.

Barneveld 4, Pecatonica 2

BLANCHARDVILLE — The Barneveld Golden Eagles scored four runs in the second inning and that was enough to down the Pecatonica Vikings, 4-2 in a Six Rivers conference game on Tuesday, April 21.

Cooper Schraepfer drove in both runs for the Vikings with a single and a double. Martin Anderson pitched 5.1 innings and struck out eight and walked three.

Pecatonica (3-2, 3-1) had a home game scheduled on Friday, April 24 against Belmont in Six Rivers action.

Belleville 7, Marshall 6

MARSHALL — The Wildcats scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to get a dramatic 7-6 win over the Marshall Cardinals in Capitol South action on Tuesday, April 21.

The Wildcats staged their six-run rally with just two hits in the seventh inning. Marcus Hebgen got the big hit with a two-run double. Dawson Smith hit a double and got the win pitching in relief with 2.2 innings, one earned run, two walks, and five strikeouts.

Belleville 16, Parkview 2

ORFORDVILLE — Trevin Neath-King had four RBIs and Gavan Crum and Randy Raven each drove in three runs to lead the Belleville Wildcats over the Parkview Vikings 16-2 in five innings in nonconference high school baseball on Monday, April 20.

The Wildcats scored five runs on two hits in the third inning to pull away for the win.

Belleville (5-3, 0-1) was to play Marshall again on Thursday, April 23 in Belleville.

Barneveld 6,

Monticello-Albany 2

MONTICELLO — The Monticello-Albany Space Stallions and the Barneveld Golden Eagles were tied 2-2 after two innings, but the Golden Eagles put four runs on the board in the fifth inning to top the Space Stallions, 6-2 in Six Rivers baseball on Monday, April 20.

The Space Stallions got only two hits. Tyler Constantini hit a double in the first inning and Tyler Patchen drove him in with a base hit. Hunter Grossen scored a run in the second inning to keep Monticello-Albany in the game.

Patchen pitched 5.2 innings and gave up six runs on seven hits. Patchen walked five and struck out three while taking the loss. Constantini pitched 1.1 innings and stuck out four of the six batters he faced.

Belmont 4, Monticello-Albany 0

BELMONT — The Belmont Braves slipped by the Space Stallions 4-0 in Six Rivers baseball on Tuesday, April 21. Monticello-Albany got just four hits, two of them by junior Ty Durtschi.

Monticello-Albany (1-6, 1-3) was to host Shullsburg-Benton in Six Rivers action in a game scheduled on Friday, April 24.

Evansville 8, Brodhead-Juda 1

EVANSVILLE — Braylon Strehlow got two hits and Chase Bauman drove in a run, but the Evansville Blue Devils rolled past the Brodhead-Juda Cardinals 8-1 in Rock Valley Conference, Rock Division baseball on Tuesday, April 21.

Sam Searls started for the Cardinals and gave up five runs, but only two earned runs as the Blue Devils scored three runs on six errors by the Cardinals.

Brodhead-Juda (2-4, 1-3) hosted Evansville in an RVC-Rock game on Thursday, April 23 and traveled to Mount Horeb for a nonconference game scheduled on Friday, April 24.

Wisconsin Heights 13, New Glarus 7

MAZOMANIE — The Glarner Knights led 7-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Vanguards erupted for 11 runs to overtake New Glarus 13-7 in Capitol South baseball on Tuesday, April 21.

The Knights committed six errors which led to 10 unearned runs.

Landon Stelter had two doubles and drove in two runs and Nolan Julseth had two RBIs for the Glarner Knights.

New Glarus (1-3, 0-1) was set to face the Vanguards again on Thursday, April 23 in a Capitol South game and a nonconference game scheduled on Friday, April 24 at home against Edgerton.

Highland 11, Argyle-Black Hawk 2

HIGHLAND — The Highland Cardinals pulled away from a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning with seven runs on their way to an 11-2 win over the Argyle-Black Hawk Warbirds in a Six Rivers game on Tuesday, April 21.

Cole Dunlavey hit a triple and Max Soper and Mitchell Johnsen each had a double to lead the Warbirds in hitting.

Jackson Berget started on the mound for Argyle-Black Hawk and allowed three runs in 4.1 innings. Berget got eight strikeouts and allowed three walks.

Argyle-Black Hawk (0-7, 0-5) was to travel to River Ridge for a Six Rivers game scheduled on Friday, April 24.

Mineral Point 15, Darlington 1

MINERAL POINT — Brett Bossert drove in five runs to lead the Mineral Point Pointers past the Darlington Redbirds 15-1 in SWAL baseball on Monday, April 20.

The Redbirds dropped to 2-3 overall and 1-3 in the SWAL. Darlington was to host Lancaster in a nonconference game scheduled on Thursday, April 23 and travel to Fennimore for a SWAL game scheduled on Friday, April 24.
