MONROE — The Monroe Cheesemakers fell to the East Troy Trojans 4-3 in Rock Valley boys tennis on Tuesday, April 21.

The Cheesemakers were forced to make a few changes with the doubles teams as Hamilton Stites was out for the match due to an unexpected eye injury.

“Even with the shake-up, our doubles lineup played well and gave us a good shot at picking up a win,” said Cheesemakers coach Matt Bordner. “Unfortunately, East Troy’s singles lineup again was incredibly tough. Allen Gerrits had our best shot at picking up a win, as he found himself up 5-4 in the second set with two break point opportunities to force a super tiebreaker. He couldn’t quite close it out, and his opponent regained his confidence and closed out the match strong. Credit to East Troy as they played well.”

Monroe’s record drops to 5-3 with the loss. The Cheesemakers were set to travel to Edgerton on Thursday April 23 for another Rock Valley dual meet.
