With a 1-2 record and three goals scored, Monroe took third in the Invite. Catholic Central, which was also 1-2, scored only two goals. Lakeside Lutheran went 3-0 with eight goals to win, while Big Foot-Williams Bay took second with a 1-2 record and seven goals.
EDGEWOOD 7, MONROE 0
MONROE — No. 3-ranked conference-leading Edgewood shut out Monroe on Thursday, April 20. Despite the loss, Monroe head coach Hannah Ormson was happy with the way her team played, as it was the first time in over five years the Crusaders hadn’t mercy-ruled the Cheesemakers.
“We made a change that fit the girls on the team this year and their strengths,” Ormson said. “We went from a 3-5-2 formation to a 4-2-3-1, which allows us to have more of a defensive position and break up the other team’s lines.”
The Crusaders scored four times in the first half and another three times in the second half. Sophomore Sonoma Bever scored three goals with three assists. Senior captain Madison Foley also scored three goals with two assists. The final goal came from Alana Johnson.
