MONROE — The Cheesemakers picked up their first win at Badger State Ethanol Stadium with a 5-0 trouncing of Dodgeville/Mineral Point on Thursday, Aug. 27.
Barrett Brandli opened the scoring with a blast from 30 yards away that went through the outstretched hands of the DMP keeper Carter Reed just 5:11 into the contest. Monroe didn’t score again until 10 minutes into the second half, when Nelson Lux-Garcia played a through ball into the box and slipped it past Reed. Just five minutes later, Gustavo Herrera zig zagged through two defenders and sent a blast on target from 25 yards out, making it 3-0. In the 70th minute, Brandli scored for a second time on a header off a corner kick. At 76:09, Herrera took control near the top of the box in traffic, but found a seem through the defensive line and into the bottom left corner of the net for the game’s final goal.

BELLEVILLE — The Sugar River Raiders dropped a tough game at home on Thursday, Aug. 27, losing to Mount Horeb 1-0. The Vikings’ lone goal came in the first half. Sugar River plays next at home in New Glarus on Monday against Wisconsin Dells, then two days later on Thursday, Sept. 3 against Monroe.
