MONROE — As autumn arrives and daily routines shift with cooler weather, shorter days, and changing outdoor conditions, the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Green County is inviting older adults to strengthen their balance, build confidence, and reduce fall risk through its upcoming Stepping On workshop.
Stepping On is an evidence-based falls prevention program designed to help participants stay active, independent, and steady on their feet. With fall activities like raking leaves, navigating uneven outdoor surfaces, and spending more time indoors where hazards can change, this workshop offers timely strategies to stay safe throughout changes in life.
Falls are common — but they are not an inevitable part of aging. This interactive, small-group program provides practical tools to improve balance and strength, identify home and community hazards, and better understand how factors like vision, medications, and footwear can impact fall risk. Participants also benefit from expert guidance (ex. physical therapist, vision specialist, pharmacist, & police officer) and supportive peer learning.
Over seven weeks, participants will:
● Improve balance and lower-body strength
● Identify and reduce fall risks at home and in the community
● Learn how health factors influence fall prevention
● Build confidence in everyday movement
● And much more
This fall, take a proactive step toward greater stability, independence, and peace of mind with Stepping On.
Workshop Details:
● Fridays, Sept. 25 – Nov. 6
