MONROE — The Green County Genealogical Society will hold its Friday Fun Day Sept. 25 from 1-3 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery.

The Friday Fun Day topic is “Cemetery Stone Cleaning” by Tamea Morrison. It will be from 1-3 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery. Meet towards the Mid-back on the east side of the cemetery. Parking and the stone cleaning will be along the side of the road. Tamae will be there by 12:30 p.m.

Tamea’s tips regarding stone cleaning:

● Always ask permission from the family before cleaning a headstone.

● Do not use chemicals, soap, or anything that could damage the surface, such as metal scrapers or hard-bristle brushes.

Tamea recently developed a strong interest in genealogy, inspired by her mother, Donna Kjendlie. Watching her excitement as she discovered our ancestors intrigued Tamea, and her mom has been a wonderful mentor as she learns the process.

Since starting this journey, she has joined the Green County Genealogy Society and learned how to clean headstones. Tamea finds the cleaning process very relaxing — a clean stone means I did something special for the family.

Outside of genealogy, Tamea enjoys camping, crafting, and spending time with her family and her dog, Winston, who often joins her visiting cemeteries that allow pets.
