On August 6:
● 6:36 a.m. Benton Fire, Benton First Response, Hazel Green EMS and Shullsburg EMS responded to CTH I, New Diggings Township for a two-vehicle accident. Zandra M. Schamper, Scales Mound IL was traveling Westbound on CTH W and was sideswiped by Marta L. Castro, 48, Warren IL when slowing down to turn on White Oak RD. Schamper was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Schamper’s 2019 Chevrolet and Castro’s 2011 Hyundai both received disabling damage and towed from the scene. Castro was also cited for Operating Without a Valid Driver’s License, No Proof of Insurance, and Failure to Yield Right of Way.
On August 8:
● A deputy, Benton Fire, Benton First Response, and Hazel Green EMS responded to CTH W, Benton Township for a two vehicle accident. Dennis M. Enright, 57, Independence IA was traveling eastbound on CTH W when he crossed the center line and hit an oncoming Ford operated by William P. Wimmer, 51, Kaycee WY, head on. Enright’s vehicle ignited in flames. Wimmer and his passenger, Britina A. Wimmer, 53, Kaycee WY, reported minor injuries. Enright was transported to the hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. Enright was arrested for Cause Injury/Operating While Intoxicated – (OWI 1st Offense). Enright was also cited for Operating Left of Center. Both Wimmer’s 2017 Ford and Enright’s 2016 Subaru received disabling damage and were towed from the scene. Hazel Green Fire, Shullsburg EMS, Southwest Health EMS, and Benton Police assisted. William and Britina Wimmer were both transported to Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, IA by Hazel Green EMS with minor injuries.
● 6:44 p.m. Maynor D. Lopez-Amaya, 19, Darlington was arrested for Operating Without a Valid License (OWL – 2nd Offense) on STH 81, Darlington Township. Lopez-Amaya was transported to Lafayette Couty Jail where he was booked and later released.
On August 9:
● 8:45 a.m. Miguel Arguelles-Alvarez, 23, Gratiot was traveling on STH 81, Darlington Township when he lost control of his vehicle and left roadway. Arguelles-Alvarez reported no injuries. Arguelles-Alvarez’s 2009 Toyota received disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
● 3:19 p.m. Deputies, Shullsburg Fire, and Shullsburg EMS responded to the intersection of CTH W and CTH O, White Oak Springs Township for a two vehicle accident. Christine L. Pincket, 64, Charlotte NC was traveling on CTH W when she failed to stop at the stop sign striking the southbound Chevrolet operated by Preston J. Crafton, 29, Shullsburg on County O. Both drivers were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Pincket’s 2002 Chevrolet and Crafton’s 2009 Chevrolet received functional damage and were driven from the scene. ● 7:49 p.m. Deputies responded to STH 11, Gratiot Township for a report of a stolen vehicle. Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop when the vehicle fled from the stop and continued onto Old Highway 11, Wayne Township. The 2000 Chevrolet operated by Hayden J. Rowley, 18, Warren IL and passenger Jesse A. Ellis, 18, Freeport left the roadway, entered the ditch, entered a corn field where it came to a rest. The two males exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. After a lengthy amount of time, both males were arrested without incident. Rowley was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent, Knowingly Flee an Officer, Criminal Damage to Property, Felony Bail Jumping, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid License (OWL-2nd Offense). Ellis was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent (Party to a Crime), Knowingly Flee an Officer (Party to a Crime), Criminal Damage to Property (Party to a Crime), and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping. Both Rowley and Ellis were transported to Lafayette County Jail where they were booked on their charges and remain. The 2000 Chevrolet received disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Green County Sheriff’s Office, Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Warren Police Darlington Police, Argyle Fire, South Wayne Fire, South Wayne First Response, and Green County EMS assisted.
On August 11:
● 7:18 p.m. A deputy responded to W Catherine ST, City of Darlington for a wanted person. Maynor E. Pena-Martinez, 23, Darlington was arrested on a Valid Grant County Warrant. Pena-Martinez was transported to the Grant County Line where custody was transferred to a Grant County Deputy.
On August 15:
● 11:46 p.m. Jacob D. Shiner, 36, Mineral Point was cited for Operating While Intoxicated (1st Offense) on STH 126, Village of Belmont. Lafayette County EMS assisted.
On August 16:
● 1:32 a.m. A deputy responded to W Church RD, Wiota Township for a domestic dispute. Alberto Rodriguez-Hernandez, 35, South Wayne was arrested for Battery, Operating After Revocation, and Disorderly Conduct. Rodriguez-Hernandez was transported and booked into Lafayette County Jail and later released on bond. Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources assisted.
● 10:37 p.m. Deputies responded to Arbor ST, Village of Benton for disorderly conduct. Rory M. Lawrence, 43, Benton was cited for disorderly conduct. Brian M. Muller, 46, Benton was cited for disorderly conduct.
