Annual Brodhead Invite welcomes in season

BRODHEAD — The opening meet of the year was the annual Brodhead Invitational on Thursday, Aug. 27. Evansville and Beloit Turner each scored 49 in the boys race. Belleville was third with 54 points, while host Brodhead-Juda was fourth with 71 points. In the girls race, Evansville topped the group with 27 points, followed by Brodhead-Juda (38), Turner (75) and Belleville (82).

Evansville’s Sebastion Cortes Cadena won the boys race with a time of 19 minutes flat. Carson Biermeier (19:22) paced Belleville, taking third overall, with teammates Henry Koch (19:48, fifth) and Adrian Scott (19:56, sixth) also in the top 10. Brodhead-Juda’s Treyton Leutenegger (20:58) was ninth overall, with teammate Ashton Henze (21:01) 10th.

In the girls race, Evansville’s Brooklyn Nipple was first overall (21:49), followed by Brodhead-Juda’s Rachel Hatter (22:13) and Olivia Brooks (22:34). Evansville had five runners placed in the top eight. Belleville’s Kate Hendrickson (25:36) was ninth, with Brodhead’s Ryleigh Brown (25:48) and Jose Hatter (26:22) finishing 10th and 11th overall.

AP girls, boys 6th at Iowa-Grant

LIVINGSTON — Argyle-Pecatonica’s girls and boys teams each finished sixth overall at the nine school Iowa-Grant Home Invite on Saturday, Aug. 29.

Platteville won the girls race with 36 points, followed by Southwestern/Benton (51) and Reedsburg (96). AP had 143 points, one better than Cuba City.

On the boys side, Reedsburg (59) came in first, followed by Iowa-Grant (77), Platteville (90), Southwestern/Benton (110), Shullsburg/Belmont (115) and AP (153).
