FORT ATKINSON — Monroe competed at the Division 1 boys golf regional at Fort Atkinson on Tuesday, May 23. Although the team didn’t advance, senior Bert Leach qualified for sectionals as an individual. 

The top four teams advanced to sectionals, which included Fort Atkinson (302, decided by tiebreaker), Milton (302), Janesville Craig (307) and Stoughton (333). Monroe finished tied for sixth with Elkhorn (351).

Leach led the Cheesemakers with a score of 81, which was the best of all individuals not on a qualifying team. Brady Spotts carded an 86 and missed out on a shot at sectionals in a shootout. Aaron Benzschawel and Brock Brandli tallied a 92, while Hans Brandt scored a 103.
