BLACK RIVER FALLS — The Rock County Fury went just 1-2 at the Black River Falls Tournament Dec. 27-28.
The Fury knocked off the hosts 2-1 Dec. 27, but then lost to Hayward 4-2 later in the day. On Day 2, the Fury were outmatched 6-1 by Fox City Stars, which had beaten Rock County by three goals just a week earlier.
In the win over Black River Falls, Claudia Boehlke scored an unassisted power play goal to put the Fury up 1-0 in the first period, with Monroe’s Anika Einbeck doubling the score in the second. Oliva Cronin finished with 30 saves in net for the Fury.
In the loss to Hayward, Rock County fell behind 2-1 after the first period, and 3-1 through two frames.
Albany’s Haley and Alyssa Knauf scored for the Fury, with Haley Knauf and Anika Einbeck snagging assists. Cronin tallied 29 saves.
Einbeck scored Rock County’s lone goal against Fox Cities. Alyssa Knauf assisted the third-period score, which came after the Fury fell behind 5-0. Cronin finished with 34 saves.
Rock County was set to play against Beaver Dam Jan. 2 before a set of home games in Janesville — vs. Warbirds Jan. 4 and vs. Metro Lynx Jan. 7. On Jan. 9 the Fury host Cap City Cougars at Edwards Ice Arena in Beloit on a “Pink the Rink” night, which will raise money for the Beloit Health System UW Cancer Center.
