Girls top Monona Grove, Oregon at triple dual

OREGON - The Monroe girls track team will enter the Badger South Conference meet May 19 as the favorites after the Cheesemakers won a triple dual Tuesday with Oregon and Monona Grove.

Monroe (6-0 Badger South) defeated Monona Grove, 112-33, and Oregon, 104-42. The Cheesemakers won 10 of the 18 events.

"It's good to be in the driver's seat," Monroe girls track coach Curt Miller said. "It's been a long time since we were 6-0 in dual meets and our girls are excited about it."

Monroe senior Meaghan Tomasiewicz won three individual events, including the pole vault (10 feet, 6 inches), 100-meter hurdles (18.0 seconds) and the 300 hurdles (:52.8).

"Meaghan is just a great track athlete," Miller said. "There are a lot of events she can do."

Monroe junior Tess Seichter won the 1,600 in a personal record time (5:28.6). Seichter also won the 3,200 with a time of 12:26.1.

Monroe sophomore Jaclyn Ditter won the 100 (:13.4) and the long jump (15-0 1/2).

"She (Ditter) had a big day," Miller said. "Those two girls scored a lot of points for us."

Junior Stephanie Wyss won the 400 (1:03.3) and Paige Hoesly finished first in the triple jump (31-2).

The Cheesemakers' 3,200 relay team of Miranda Henke, Madeline Arnold, Tessa Frutiger and Alexa Yurs finished first with a time of 11:04.5.
