JUDA - The Panther's boys basketball team just couldn't handle the previously one-win Belmont Braves on Monday, losing 73-63 in a game postponed from Feb. 5.
"Belmont came out shooting lights-out," Juda coach Kurt Mansfield said. "They hit four 3s and shot something like 60 or 70 percent."
Belmont (2-16) led 39-28 at the break.
"We battled back in the second half," Mansfield said. "Free throws and 3-pointers just didn't go our way."
Keagen Haffele led Juda with 16 points. Cole Fortney had 14, Luke Skoumal chipped in 13 and Dakota Davis added 9 for the Panthers (6-13).
Belmont's Colin Austin led all scorers with 25 points. Three other teammates joined him in double figures - Justan Ernst (13), Jacob Amenda (16) and Brady Wedig (10).
Juda doesn't have any time to ponder the loss, as the Panthers turn right around and host Platteville tonight.
In girls basketball action Monday, Belmont edged Albany 59-56.
