Shirley Lou Zumkehr, age 77, of Monroe passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Meriter Hospital in Madison.  She was born the daughter of Clarence Gissing and Helen Brunkow on January 25, 1945.  She graduated from Monroe High School in 1963. 

Shirley was united in marriage to the love of her life, Richard Zumkehr in 1964 at EUB.  She worked at Color Putty for 20 years, she was also a CNA and did homecare over the years.  She was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello.  She loved to visit with people. 

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Lori (Hal) Hulbert of Dallas area, Texas; sons, Kevin (Lisa) Zumkehr of Evansville and Robert (Lynda Riese) Zumkehr of Monroe; grandchildren, Garret (Rachel) Zuhoski, Bradley (Kelly) and Nicole Zumkehr, Cody and Brittney (Jake) Armstrong; granddaughter-in-law, Lacy Zuhoski; great-grandchild, Olive Zuhoski; sisters, Betty Silkworth of Minoqua and Phyllis (Tom) Stine of Friendship. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Richard; and grandson Nick Zuhoski

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello, with Pastor Lance Smith officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe.   

A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe and from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church on Saturday.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com
