Marcella “Marcie” Ann Hartwig, of Browntown, passed away at the age of 71 on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at SSM Hospice Home in Monroe after facing pancreatic cancer. She was born July 9th, 1953, to Alvin and Lois (Ditsworth) Niesman in Freeport, Illinois.

Marcie grew up in the Le-Win area (IL) and was known as “Mouse” by her friends. She was a CNA for over 30 years and had an in-home daycare while her children were young. After a short, year-long retirement, she decided to return to work and enjoyed the last few years working at local childcare centers. Marcie loved music (especially the oldies), dancing, and could often be found working on word finds and crossword puzzles.

Marcie married Gary Hartwig in June of 2000. She is survived by her husband, Gary, Browntown; daughters, Darla (Amy) Estes, Madison, and Karen (Nathaniel Paulson) Steinmann, Monroe; son, Jared (Nicoal) Steinmann, Monroe; stepsons, Chad (Tammy) Hartwig and Shane (Tonya) Hartwig, both of Monroe; thirteen grandchildren, Gottlieb (Natasha Teasdale) Brandli III, Mina (Zach Kralic) Krieger, Trevor Hartwig, Camden Steinmann, Blake Steinmann, Aristotle Krieger, Oliver Krieger, Paige Steinmann, Vivien Krieger, Azaria Hartwig, and Shamiria, Amere, and Nevaeh Estes; one great grandson, Gottlieb Brandli IV; a sister, Kathie (Mike) Roling, Dubuque IA; and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Marcie was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Lois Niesman in 2021; sister, Peggy (Niesman) Duitsman in 2015; and infant brother, Greg Niesman in 1965.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 1329 31st. Ave., Monroe, with Reverend Paul Gregersen officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the Monroe American Legion Post #84. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 16, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund will be established in Marcie’s name.
