Jerry K. Meythaler
Jerry K. Meythaler

Jerry passed away, peacefully, in his bed, free of pain, with family present. He was united in marriage to Mildred Krauss on September 22, 1956. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2015. His parents Roy and Doris Meythaler of Racine, WI and his brothers Roy Jr and Dale also preceded him.  He was born and raised in Racine and spent most of his adult years in Waukesha, WI.  He is survived by his sons Jonathan, of North Carolina and Jeffrey, of Colorado, and his grandchildren Jefferson and Jackson, children of Jeffrey.  Jerry was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a master's degree in English and worked in the public school system for 33 years as a high school English teacher, teaching Composition and Literature.  An excellent writer in his own right, Jerry was an ardent intellectual and passionate Christian.  He paused his professional life twice, once to serve in the Korean War and again 15 years later to go to the mission field as an English and Bible teacher at Okinawa Christian School.  Jerry was a true believer, standing up for teacher’s rights through an active union, championing the ability to choose early retirement and fighting for the right to vote.  He was a man of principle, unconcerned with pecuniary reward, he worked as a civil servant for decades with an unwavering commitment to faith, family . . . and football!  Although Jerry cannot be replaced, his legacy remains.  Although absent from the body, he is present with the Lord.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 16th, 2024, at the RiverGlen Christian Church, W229 N1400 Westwood Dr., Pewaukee, WI, 53186.  Visitation 10:00am. Service 11:00am. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, WI. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net
