Jennifer Jean Blumer
Jennifer Jean Blumer

Jennifer Jean Blumer, age 48, passed away unexpectedly January 9th, 2024 at her home due to bilateral pulmonary embolism. She was born May 24th, 1975 in Monroe, WI to Gene and Alice (Zimmerman) Fahrney. On December 12th, 1998 she married her high-school sweetheart and lifelong love, Ronald Blumer after he proposed in the 1997 Monticello Homecoming Parade. She later gave birth to two daughters, Veronica and Sarah, which were the pride of her life.

Jennifer loved her family. She enjoyed baking with her girls, making quilts for the people she loved, taking care of her plants and flowers around her home, and decorating for all the holidays and seasons. Jennifer also loved to travel with her family. She has visited 45 states, multiple countries, and took several cruises. She recently returned from Hawaii with her husband in celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary.

Jennifer had a special bond with her daughters stemming from Ron’s dedication to the fire service. Her sacrifice led her to parenting alone during emergencies in Monticello, while training, or while he was on shift in Madison. She accepted this sacrifice with such love and grace.

Jennifer was raised in Monticello and graduated valedictorian from Monticello High School in 1993. She was so proud that both of her daughters also graduated as valedictorian from the same high school. She went on to UW-Whitewater and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the School of Accounting and became licensed as a CPA. She went on to work for the State of Wisconsin at the Legislative Audit Bureau as a Financial Auditor. Because she wanted to be closer to home and her girls, she went into banking at the Bank of Monticello (now Greenwoods State Bank) and became their Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In this role, she found countless ways to give back to her community such as sponsoring the local fireworks show, speaking and paying for all National Honor Society students’ meals, sponsoring transportation for Green County State Fair Dairy exhibitors, and many more. Within the past year, she transitioned to Foresight Financial Group as their Chief Financial Officer in Winnebago, Illinois.

Jennifer was dedicated to and loved Monticello. She served the community as a lead organizer to the Monticello Christmas Stocking with her family, audited Zwingli UCC’s accounts, taught Sunday School, led Girl Scout troops, volunteered for many different school events and organizations, and served on the Town of Mt. Pleasant Planning Commission. She also served as a board member for Green Cares Food Pantry and Monticello Industrial Development Corp. Additionally, she was an active participant in many fire department fundraisers for Monticello and Madison.

Jennifer is survived by her husband Ronald, daughters Sarah and Veronica and Veronica’s fiancé Peter, parents Gene and Alice Fahrney, father-in-law Wilbert Blumer, mother-in-law Patty (Richard) Blumer-Riesen, brother-in-law Scott (Melinda) Blumer, and pup brother Tommy Fahrney. She was greeted in death with a huge hug from Grandparents Claudia and Ralph Zimmerman. She was also greeted with a Jenny beer from Grandparents Werner and Esther Fahrney, by all of Ron’s grandparents that loved her as their own grandchild, and all her pup brothers from her parent’s home.
