Elizabeth Ann Sorn, also known as Beth or Liz, passed away peacefully in Pensacola, Florida, surrounded by her husband, mother and father, and sisters, on Friday, February 7th, 2025. Liz was born on December 13th, 1967 in Monroe, Wisconsin to her parents, Don and Marcia Sorn. After her graduation from Monroe High School in 1986, Liz attended UW-Lacrosse where she graduated with her Bachelor’s of Arts in Recreation and Events Management. She completed internships at South Seas Plantation in Captiva Island, Florida and Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida. She worked jobs in Wisconsin, Florida, and eventually moved back to Monroe to be closer to family. Liz was an active member of the Monroe Women’s Club. Liz met and married the love of her life, Jeff in 2023. They moved to Liz’s dream house with her peaceful backyard oasis in Lake Summerset where she loved to relax while listening to the birds sing and sitting on the beach.
Liz is survived by her loving husband Jeffrey Breitenfield, her parents Don and Marcia Sorn, and her sisters Sue (Mark) Gibney and Melissa (Joe) Holland. Liz was an aunt who was cherished by nieces and nephews; Nicholas & Lily Gibney who called her “Didi”, Brett Zimmerman & Allie, Emma and Claire Holland who called her “Beffy.” Liz is also survived by her uncles, Ron (Alla) Sorn, Rick (Denise) Sorn, a sister-in-law Jolene Breitenfield, and friends that have been just like family, Tony & Alicia DeMichele and family. She leaves behind many wonderful friends, family members, and nephew dogs. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Milton and Kate Sorn, maternal grandparents, Charles and Mabel Huber, and many aunts and uncles.
Liz was known as the “Dog Whisperer.” We can see her smiling from ear to ear while being surrounded by hundreds of dogs and cats. We believe she is up in Heaven shopping/thrifting, rocking out to Pink and Adele, crafting, and laughing. Prior to her infection, Liz was able to enjoy nine days with her parents in Orange Beach, Alabama at the beach which was one of her favorite places to be; she thrifted with her mom, sat on the beach, thrifted some more, laughed with her dad at the computer, thrifted again and again, and talked about her love for her husband. Those who know and love Liz will remember her for her contagious laugh, free spirit, quick replies to humor, kindness for others, and her creativity. She loved her Seniors who thoroughly enjoyed the trips and activities she planned for them.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date, as her family is still taking time to mourn and process the sudden loss of Liz’s wonderful soul.
