Dorothy J. Blum, loving wife, mother and grandmother, age 93 of Monroe, died Friday, May 20, 2022 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on June 7, 1928 in Green County, the daughter of Oscar and Martha (Blanc) Blum. She graduated from Monroe High School. Dorothy married John M. Blum on December 15, 1946 in Monroe.
Dorothy loved spending time outside in the summertime. She enjoyed gardening and tending her flower beds. She loved animals and could often be found taking care of her cats and kittens. She spent many hours walking around the farm and normally had a cat or two following her. She also enjoyed traveling, dancing, bowling, reading and puzzles.
She is survived by her husband of 75 years, John of Monroe; daughter, Jean Blum of Lake City, FL; daughter-in-law, Beverly Blum of Ft. Atkinson, WI; 5 grandchildren: Teresa (Bill) Haymes of Dane, WI, Jenifer (Chris) Sprague of Kildeer, IL, Shannon Dunn of North Fort Myers, FL, Jesse Dunn of Cape Coral, FL, and Ashley (Tabatha) Dunn of Gainesville, FL; 6 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister, Ann (Tom) Saunders. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Gordon; 2 brothers, Delbert and Herman Blum; 2 sisters, Rose Carwile and Mary Lou Blum.
Per Dorothy’s wishes private graveside services will be held at Washington Reformation cemetery.
