Update: Driver named in fatal ATV crash near Browntown

BROWNTOWN — On July 3, 2021, at about 12:52 p.m., Green County Deputies and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Wardens responded the location of W7700 Cheese County Trail, in the town of Cadiz, for a single ATV crash with injuries.

Patrick J. Heim, a 65-year-old from Shullsburg, was the operator of the ATV. Heim died from injuries after his ATV struck a deer standing on the trail. The ATV was traveling west on the trail at the time of the collision. The ATV left the trail after striking the deer and entered a steep embankment where it collided with trees. Heim was wearing safety equipment.

Responding public safety agencies included Monroe EMS, Monroe 800, Browntown First Response and Fire, South Wayne Fire and First Response, Wisconsin State Patrol, med flight, Green County Coroner, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
