MONROE — Kristi Moe, founder of Monroe-based Zodica Perfumery, has been named to Forbes’ Next 1000 list, according to a statement.

The Forbes Next 1000 celebrates bold and inspiring entrepreneurs. Forbes created the ‘Next 1000’ list to shine a light on these entrepreneurial heroes. Judges include Sheryl Sandberg, Alex Rodriguez, Ciara, and Reid Hoffman.

Zodica Perfumery makes naturally-derived perfume based on the twelve zodiac signs. The scents were developed over a three-year period utilizing blind smell tests from women across the U.S. Women have been shown to naturally like their own zodiac sign scent about 80% of the time, eliminating much of the frustration from perfume shopping and gifting.

Originally founded in Dallas in 2016 using just $15,000 of her savings, Moe moved the business to her home-state of Wisconsin in 2018 to open a production studio. She now employs six full-time staff out of the Monroe location, which also houses a Zodica retail store. Zodica is carried in over 400 retail locations across the U.S., and online with Free People and QVC (which she has appeared on live multiple times). Sales this year are up almost 200% over last year.

As a lifelong sufferer of migraines often triggered by mainstream perfumes, maker Kristi Moe formulated the fine fragrances without irritating ingredients. The clean fragrances do not contain phthalates, parabens, fragrance extenders, gluten, or animal-derived ingredients. All products are sustainably-made and cruelty-free.

Zodica’s newest scent is Eau de Wisconsin, created by casting the astrological natal charts for when Wisconsin joined the Union as the 30th state (May 29, 1848), and when Madison officially became a city and its Capitol (March 4, 1856).
