Green County Sheriff

On May 20:

● At 11:19 a.m., Deputies along with Brodhead and Green County EMS and Brodhead Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle crash in the N700 block of County Highway G, in the Town of Spring Grove. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Raymond E. Fane Jr., 33 of Freeport IL was traveling southbound on County Highway G, when he reportedly fell asleep. Fane’s vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with a northbound vehicle operated by Toni L. Lilly, 45 of Rockford IL. Fane reported no injuries, was wearing his seatbelt and the airbags did deploy. Fane’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Lilly and a passenger reported non-life-threatening injuries, were wearing their seatbelts, and the airbags did deploy. Lilly and her passenger were transported to an area hospital for treatment. Lilly’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Investigation resulted in Fane being cited for Operating Left of Center, Inattentive Driving, and Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance. Lilly was also cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance. Fane and Lilly were released pending court.

● At 2:03 p.m., Deputies responded to a car versus UTV crash in the W8900 block of State Highway 11, in the Town of Cadiz. Investigation revealed a vehicle operated by Tanya J. Dejong, 46 of Janesville was traveling westbound on State Highway 11, when she collided with a UTV operated by Travis G. Metzger, 32 of Schaumburg IL while he attempted to cross State Highway 11 on the Tri-County Trail. Dejong and her passengers reported no injuries, were wearing their seatbelts, and the airbags did not deploy. Dejong’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Metzger reported no injuries and was wearing his seatbelt. The UTV sustained damage and was removed from the scene. Investigation resulted in Metzger being cited for Operating UTV without a Safety Certificate and for Operating on the trail contrary to official signs. Metzger was released pending court.

● At 10:59 p.m., The Green County Sheriff’s Office received the report of a single vehicle crash at the intersection of State Highway 11/81 and County Highway GG. It was reported that the vehicle was severely damaged; the occupants and any injuries were unknown. Deputies along with Brodhead Police Department, Brodhead Fire Department, and Brodhead EMS were dispatched to the scene. Initial investigation revealed that a vehicle was traveling westbound on State Highway 81. The vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign and continued across State Highway 11 and onto County Highway GG. The vehicle then entered the west ditch of County Highway GG and continued traveling north. The vehicle then collided with a mound of gravel and overturned. The vehicle then collided with a cement pillar before coming to rest. The driver was wearing his seatbelt, and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. The driver, a Monroe man was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Green County Coroner’s Office. At this time, the identity of the driver is withheld pending notification to family. Any additional information will follow in an update news release.

On May 23:

● At approximately 3:21 a.m., Deputies responded to the N500 block of CTH M, Town of Cadiz, for a report of a one vehicle crash. Deputies arrived on scene and met with the driver, Jeremy Garrett, 30, of IL, who advised that he was traveling south bound on CTH M when he failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle exited the roadway, went down an embankment, and came to a rest in a field. Jeremy reported being uninjured and was wearing a seatbelt. The vehicle sustained disabling damage, no airbag deployment, and was towed from the scene. Jeremy was issued a citation for failure to maintain control of a vehicle. Jeremy was released pending a future non-mandatory court date.

On May 24:

● At approximately 4:36 a.m., Deputies and the Brodhead Fire Department responded to the N2700 block of County Highway GG, Town of Decatur, for a report of a trailer that had caught fire. Investigations found that a truck pulling a trailer northbound from State Highway 81 had caught fire after its tire had deflated. The driver, Cody A Christianson, 32, of Brodhead, reported no injury, reported wearing his seatbelt, and no airbag deployment. Christianson’s truck sustained no damages. Christianson’s trailer sustained disabling damages. 


Lafayette County Sheriff

On May 13:

● 7:42 p.m. Alyssa D. Fisher, 33, Albany was cited for Operating after Suspension, Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, No Insurance, and Unreasonable and Imprudent Speed on W Estey ST, City of Shullsburg.

On May 14:

● 2:12 p.m. Darlington Fire and Lafayette County EMS responded to Ann ST, City of Darlington for a vehicle versus Amish Buggy. Darlington Police assisted on scene. 

● 4:28 p.m. Deputies responded to Stone Hill AV, Village of Belmont for a domestic dispute. As a result, Fredy A. Camargo, 19, Platteville was cited for Disorderly Conduct. 

On May 15:

● 8:19 p.m. Dana M Teasdale, 22, Shullsburg reported striking a deer on STH 81, Lamont Township. No injuries were reported and Teasdale’s 2013 Chevrolet received severe damage and was towed from the scene.

On May 16:

● 3:43 p.m. Kevin M Schwartz, 53, Darlington reported striking a deer on CTH F, Fayette Township. No injuries were reported and Schwartz’s 2017 Chrysler received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

On May 17:

● 10:03 p.m. Jordan L Schober-Lange, 19, Platteville reported striking a raccoon on STH 81, Seymour Township. No injuries were reported and Schober-Lange’s 2012 Chevrolet received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

On May 18:

● 10:28 a.m. Darlington Fire and Lafayette County EMS responded to STH 81, Lamont Township for a one vehicle accident. Jason C. Quinn, 45, Argyle was travelling on STH 81, when he left the roadway, struck a mailbox, and came to a stop in a field. Quinn was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Quinn’s 2015 Dodge received moderate damage and was towed from the scene. Deputies and Darlington Police assisted.  

● 4:32 p.m. Pedro Adame-Garcia, 31, Darlington was arrested for Operating after Revocation. Adame-Garcia was transported to Lafayette County Jail where he was booked and released. Adame-Garcia was also cited for Child Safety Restraint.

On May 20: 

● 1:23 p.m. Patrick O Rogers, 73, Cuba City reported striking a deer on CTH W, Monticello Township. No injuries were reported and Rogers’s 2022 Subaru received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

● 8:53 p.m. Hilari J Lansing, 44, Darlington reported striking a deer on Furnace Hill RD, Willow Springs Township. No injuries were reported and Lansing’s 2017 Infinity received moderate damage and was driven from the scene

On May 21:

● 6:35 a.m. Yensi E Salgado-Rodriguez, 31, Darlington reported striking a deer on CTH F, Blanchard Township. No injuries were reported and Salgado-Rodriguez’s 2011 Mitsubishi received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

● 7:10 p.m. John H Herbst, 44, Platteville reported striking a deer on Hicks RD, Gratiot Township. No injuries were reported and Herbst’s 2015 Chrysler received moderate damage and was driven from the scene

● 8:34 p.m. Belmont Fire responded to W Mound View AV in the Village for a sinkhole. A deputy assisted on scene.

On May 22:

● 6:40 p.m. Jorge E. Lopez-Murillo, 19, Darlington was cited for Speeding and OWL (1st) on STH 81, Darlington Township.

On May 24:

● 3:41 p.m. Kyle D Lincicum, 32, South Wayne was arrested on a valid Lafayette County warrant and transported to the Lafayette County Jail where he remains in custody.

On May 25:

● 9:30 p.m. Jill L Russell, 72, Mineral Point reported striking a deer on CTH O, Kendall Township. No injuries were reported and Russell’s 2015 Dodge received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

On May 26:

● 4:01 p.m. Monica M. Koch, 68, South Wayne reported striking a deer on CTH DD, Wayne Township. Koch’s 2020 received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

● 7:19 p.m. Atoshia M. Bailey, 44, Dubuque was arrested on valid Lafayette County warrants. Bailey was transported to Lafayette County Jail where she was booked and remains. 


Monroe Police

On May 25:

● 8:14 p.m., officers arrested Jerry V. Coplien, 32, Monroe, in the 900 block of 8th Street, on a warrant issued by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections-Probation & Parole. Coplien was confined in the Green County Jail pending further proceedings.

On May 29:

● 12:56 a.m. officers initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of 16th Avenue and 19th Street. Investigation led to the arrest of Julia M. Gempler, 26, of Monticello for OWI 1st. Julia was cited for the offense as well as for Improper Stop Sign/Stop Line and Possession of Open Intoxicants MV-Driver. Julia was released to a responsible party pending her mandatory appearance in court.
