John R. Harwick age 82 of Monroe, Wisconsin died Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at his home. He was born May 8, 1928 at Shullsburg, WI the son of Raymond and Catherine (McManus) Harwick and attended Shullsburg High School and Blackhawk Technical College. John served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
John married Gloria Loeffelholz on December 1, 1956 at Gratiot, WI. John was a Police Officer for 23 years, serving the last 16 years in Monroe, retiring in 1985 with numerous Letters of Commendation. He was a member of St. Victor Catholic Church, Cecil Jones VFW Post #2312, Zilmer Riley American Legion Post #84, and enjoyed camping & auctions.
Surviving are his wife, Gloria Harwick of Monroe, WI; sons, Steve Harwick of Monroe, WI & Michael (Kathy) Harwick of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughter, Ann (Clint) Ackman of McConnell, IL; 4 Grandchildren, Jenny, Justin, Johnathan & Chandler; great grandchild, Jeremy; and sisters, Joan Webber of Shullsburg, WI & Marian (Roger) Temple of Janesville, WI. He is predeceased by his Parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 16, 2010 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Drive & N. 18th Avenue in Monroe with Fr. Michael E. Klarer officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:00 until time of service at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
