Everett M. Wild

Everett M. Wild, age 90, of Monroe, died on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at the New Glarus Home. He was born on February 20, 1918, in New Glarus, the son of Mathias and Agnes (Schindler) Wild. Everett and Lillian E. Berg were married on October 19, 1941, in Springdale Lutheran Church. He was in the U.S. Army, serving in Co. K 32nd Infantry. He worked for Varco Pruden Company in Evansville. After his retirement he became a greeter at Wal-Mart and it broke his heart when he could no longer work there. Everett was a faithful member of the Union Presbyterian Church, serving in many capacities. He was a dedicated Mason belonging to the Smith Lodge #31, Palestine Chapter #21, Madison Chapter, Preston Council #48, Monroe Commandery #48, Scottish Rite Valley of Freeport, Sword of Bunker Hill, KYCH, Zor Shrine, and Green County Shrine Club. He did volunteer work in the community in many capacities; he especially enjoyed his work for the Food Pantry.

He is survived by his children: Joy (Ole) Hanson of New Glarus, David (Susan) Wild of Monticello, Vicki (Ralph) Klassy of Phillips; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents; wife, Lillian; brother, John; sister-in-law, Ruth Wild; a sister, Mabel, and a brother-in-law, John Mulhall.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Union Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Marilyn Sandin-Ross, with a family burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be held at 7:15 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A memorial fund is being established in Everett's memory.

Everett will be deeply missed by family and friends.
