Dorothy M. Kortmann, age 87, of Monroe, died on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on May 13, 1924, the daughter of Rodney and Mary (Haas) Wells. Dorothy and Glen E. Kortmann were married on October 1, 1950 at the Monroe United Brethren Church. She made cheese with her husband, while raising her family. Dorothy also made salads for the Norseman Supper Club in Argyle. She was a member of the Monroe V.F.W. Auxiliary, Monroe Turn and Swing, Argyle American Legion Auxiliary and the Argyle Kitchen Band. But Dorothy especially loved spending time and spoiling her grand and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Beverly (Harvey) Goepfert of Monroe, Diane (Rick) Butler of Argyle; granddaughters, Julie (Dan) Verscharge, Tammy Goepfert, Heather (James) Coffey and Jennifer Butler; great grandchildren, Kyler Smith and Kayla Paulson; sisters, Leona Wells and Marjorie Ballard. She is predeceased by her parents, husband; brothers, Clifford and Herbert Wells.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, with Rev. Dan Bohlman officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held on Monday, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A memorial fund is being established in Dorothy's memory.
