Amy L. Kienzle, 83, of 2700 Matthew John Drive, died March 17, 2008 at Dubuque Rehab and Nursing Center.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke's Methodist Church, Dubuque, Iowa. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery at Galena, Illinois. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home of East Dubuque, Illinois.
She was born on September 23, 1924 in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Ernest and Emma (Rosencrance) Johnston. She married Raymond Kienzle of Scales Mound, Illinois on August 25, 1946 at the Grandview Methodist Church in Dubuque, Iowa. Together they farmed in Council Hill Township for 40 years.
She attended Senior High School of Dubuque, Iowa.
She was a charter member of Hills Home Extension of Jo Daviess County, Illinois. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of galena, Illinois and taught Sunday School for a number of years. She also took part in the WSCS of the church. She was an election judge of the Council Hill precinct.
In 1986, she and her husband moved to Winter Garden, Florida. She was a member of the Winter Garden Methodist Church and taught Sunday School for a number of years. She was an election judge at the Winter Garden precinct. She volunteered for Christian Services.
After retiring to Florida, she and her husband did a lot of traveling. Amy loved visiting her children and grandchildren. She loved flowers and had a beautiful rose garden. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was famous for her homemade bread.
In March of 2006 they moved to Dubuque Retirement Community to be close to family due to health problems.
Surviving are her husband, Ray; five children, Pamela Jenn of Marietta, Georgia, Linda (Rodger) Lamont of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Janel (Steve) Geisert of Galena, Illinois, William (Lisa) Kienzle of Chatham, Illinois, and Kevin Kienzle and friend, Julene Coates of Dubuque, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren with a fifth due in June; one niece, Diane (Donald) Latham of The Villages, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary; and a brother, Ernest E. Johnston Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name.
