On June 4:
● 9:21 p.m. Gary J. Maske, 57, Waterloo, IA was traveling on USH 151, Kendall Township when he struck a round bale that was in the lane of traffic. Maske reported no injuries. Maske’s 2025 Freightliner received disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Mineral Point Fire, Mineral Point Rescue Squad, Mineral Point Police and Iowa County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
On June 5:
● 11:18 p.m. A deputy responded to Ballard Rd, Willow Springs Township for suspicious activity. As a result, Troy A. Stevenson, 26, Mineral Point was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI — 1st Offense). Stevenson was transported to Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office where he was released to a responsible party.
On June 6:
● 5:49 a.m. A deputy responded to CTH D, Village of South Wayne for a vehicle in the ditch. As a result, William Amador Rugama, 30, South Wayne was arrested for OWI 1st (operating while intoxicated 1st offense.) Rugama was brought to the Lafayette County Jail where he was booked and later released to a responsible party. No injuries were reported and his 2014 Buick received disabling damage and was towed from the scene. South Wayne First Response, South Wayne Fire, and Lafayette County EMS assisted.
● 11:22 a.m. Deputies responded to STH 11, Shullsburg Township for a motorcycle accident. As a result, Nathan E. Brown,41, Benton was arrested on a valid warrant and was also cited for operating a motorcycle without a valid license and operating without insurance. Brown was taken to the Lafayette County Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and then later taken to the Lafayette County Jail where he was booked in and remains. Shullsburg EMS and Shullsburg Fire assisted.
On June 7:
● 2:22 a.m. A deputy conducted a traffic stop on Galena ST in the City of Darlington. As a result, Juan A. Artica-Ramos, 44, Darlington was cited for Operating while Intoxicated — First Offense and Possession of an Open Intoxicant in a Motor Vehicle. He was also arrested for Operating without a Valid License — 3rd Offense and Resisting/Refusing to Stop. Juan was transported to the Lafayette County Jail where he was booked and later released to a responsible party. Darlington Police assisted.
● 11:40 a.m. A deputy responded to CTH E, Darlington Township for a one-vehicle accident. Ibeyda M. Rodriguez-Alvarez, 27, Darlington was northbound on CTH E when she lost control and entered the ditch, striking a fence on the east side of the road. No injuries were reported, and her 2013 Kia was towed from the scene. Rodriguez-Alvarez was cited for Operating without a Valid Driver’s License — First Offense and Failure to Maintain Control of her Vehicle.
● 6:28 p.m. A deputy came upon a vehicle that appeared to have been involved in an accident on CTH F, Willow Springs Township. After investigation, Orlin C. Lopez-Pena, 33, Darlington was arrested for Operating after Revocation and Operating while Intoxicated — Second Offense. He was also cited for Hit-and-Run Property Adjacent to Highway, Operating without Insurance, and Failure to Notify Police of an Accident. Lopez-Pena was transported to the Lafayette County Jail where he was booked and later released to a responsible party. Darlington Police and Lafayette County EMS assisted.
On June 10:
● 11:49 p.m. Deputies responded to STH 81, Seymour Township for a check welfare. After further investigation, driver Makayla L. Johnson, 22, Argyle was westbound on STH 81 when she swerved to miss a deer and overcorrected, entering the eastbound lane, re-entering the westbound lane, continuing into the ditch and coming to rest in a small creek. Johnson was arrested for Failure to Install or Tampering with Ignition Interlock Device, Operating while Intoxicated - 2nd Offense, Operating after Revocation, as well as being cited for Failure to Maintain Control. She was transported to the Lafayette County Jail where she was booked and later released to a responsible party.
On June 17:
● 8:52 a.m. A deputy responded to E Friendship ST, City of Shullsburg for a one vehicle accident. Doris E. Teutschmann, 66, Shullsburg was traveling on E Friendship ST when her vehicle started to have mechanical issues causing her to lose control and strike a building. Teutschmann and her passenger, Katelin R. Teutschmann, 36, Shullsburg reported no injuries. Teutschmann’s 2017 Ford received disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
