MONROE - The Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative (RWHC) recently honored Vicki Coffey, RN, BSN, with the Award for Excellence in Nursing Leadership. Coffey, a registered nurse for more than 26 years, manages Monroe Clinic's inpatient services. The award recognizes outstanding leadership by a nurse manager employed by a RWHC hospital, which includes 35 member hospitals throughout the state. Coffey was nominated by fellow nurses and co-workers, who wrote of her accomplishments. The nomination also detailed many of her personal contributions.

Monroe Clinic's vice president clinical operations/chief nursing officer, Paula Elmer, RN, MSN, was among those who nominated Coffey.

"Vicki leads through others," Elmer said in a release. "Her ability to identify strengths in her staff and provide opportunities for them to use these strengths has resulted in very positive growth for individual team members, the nursing unit and Monroe Clinic as a whole."
