MONROE — The Monsignor Thomas F. Campion Charitable Fund recently granted funds to area organizations.
The fund gave $2,500 to the Green County Child Advocacy Center with funds from the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation.
These funds are for mental health treatment for clients. Mental health providers are key in helping children draft victim impact statements and assisting them to show improvement in post traumatic health symptoms and fostering safety, health and justice. In 2024, the Green County CAC provided 649 mental health sessions allowing access to every child served by the center — an increase of 44% from 2023.
The fund also recently donated $5,000 to the Green County Development Corporation (GCDC) that is now in its second year of the Home Construction Cooperative program, partnering with Monroe High School and local contractors to provide students with hands-on experience in home construction and renovation.
The program allows Skilled Building Trades LAUNCH students to gain practical experience in trades like HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and landscaping. The collaborative effort aims to prepare students for in-demand careers while benefiting the community.
The new home will be sold upon completion, with proceeds reinvested to support future projects and program expansion throughout Green County.
This is the second consecutive year of this gift. The Campion Charitable Fund board feels this is an important hands-on opportunity for youth in Monroe.
