Reasons to support Manor with vote Nov. 12

Voting yes on Thursday, Nov. 12, for the Lafayette Manor Nursing Home is a good investment for Lafayette County taxpayers. Why?

1. You are helping lifelong Lafayette County taxpayers stay in their local community, where they are cared for by family and friends. If this referendum does not pass, Manor residents either will have to move out of the county, or in the case of sale to a for-profit agency, the staff and quality of care will change.

2. You are helping to preserve a quality nursing home for you and your family, should you ever need it.

3. You are assisting local residents who need rehabilitation after an accident or illness to stay close to home while they are working to return to an independent lifestyle.

4. You are supporting the county's economy, since the Manor supports local businesses through the purchase of dairy products, gas, flowers, vending food and other materials.

5. The Lafayette Manor provides many services to our county. This includes Meals on Wheels or Meal Center Meals for Darlington, Argyle, Gratiot, Wiota and Blanchardville. They also provide food for Darlington Day Care and the Lafayette County Jail, and laundry services for the hospital, Family Health Medical Clinic, Darlington Day Care, county jail, and Dr. Tulachka.

Vote yes on Thursday, Nov. 12.

- This letter was signed by Susan Burke and Shirley Johnson of Gratiot, and by Lynn Berget of Darlington.
