Executive Director, City of Monroe Housing Authority

To the editor:

We cannot express enough gratitude for all the help that the Monroe police and fire departments have given our staff and tenants over the years, but we are especially appreciative for the help that was available to us on Wednesday night, Jan. 23, when a sprinkler system pipe burst in the stairwell and set off the alarms.

The firefighters were so well organized and detailed, plus very respectful of the tenants. We are very proud to have them represent our city and have one of our employees be one of their volunteers.

We are so truly blessed to have them in our community, working to keep everyone safe and secure in their homes. We were also grateful for the extra "above and beyond" service that was given, ensuring everyone was safe, sweeping the water to minimize the moisture damage and moving the tenants' personal items and storage cages to avoid further damage from standing water.
