MONROE — The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department has two youth sports clinics coming up.

The spring volleyball season for students in grades 3 to 6 begins the first week in March and sign-up is underway. Boys and girls in grades 5 and 6 will meet Tuesdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Northside Elementary School throughout the month of March. Boys and girls in grades 3-4 will meet on Thursdays from March 5 to April 2. There will be no public transportation available.

The deadline to register is Feb. 28. Monroe residents fee is $35, and non-residents are $45.

Also coming up, the Monroe softball team will host three clinics March 7 in the Monroe High School practice gym. Monroe varsity coach Joe O’Leksy and his staff will hold a hitting clinic from 9 to 10:30 a.m., then a fielding clinic from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by a pitching clinic from 1 to 2:15 p.m.

The cost is $25 for each clinic. Participants should enter the high school at Door 13 on the northwest corner of the building.  Athletes should bring a ball glove, a hat and a water bottle.
