MONROE — Green County Cheese Days is looking for community volunteers to help keep two of the festival’s busiest gathering places welcoming for guests: the Big Radio Dining Tent and the Colony Brands Hospitality Tent.
Volunteers work three-hour shifts, helping wipe down tables and chairs, keep the tents neat and tidy, and pick up trash. It’s an easy way to provide community service — and a fun opportunity to meet and talk with festival-goers from near and far.
“The festival is successful because of the tremendous support we receive from our community,” said Noreen Rueckert, Cheese Days Director. “Volunteering for a few hours is an easy way to take part and help create a great experience for our visitors.”
That community support has an impact well beyond the festival itself. Many local organizations rely on Cheese Days as an important fundraiser, operating food stands during the weekend to raise money for their own programs and causes. A successful festival means more opportunities for those groups to raise funds.
Individuals, families, coworkers, service clubs and other groups are encouraged to volunteer.
