MONROE - Brandon Wilson has been emerging as a premier golfer for the Cheesemakers and Saturday he showed that he plays well with others.

And it turns out that working mornings shouldn't be an issue either.

The Monroe junior tandemed with classmate Aaron Krattiger to post a third-best score of 69 at Saturday's annual Monroe Best Ball Invitational at Monroe Country Club. Once Monona Grove got through some car troubles, the event teed off shorty after its scheduled time of 8 a.m.

The Cheesemakers placed similarly as a team with 222 combined strokes while McFarland's 220 eared a split of the title with Verona. The Wildcats beat Monroe in a fifth-golfer playoff Friday on the same course.

Wilson and Krattiger showed incredible finesse in carding birdies on three of the Par 3s. The duo also picked up a bird on the Par 4 No. 15 and had a string of six pars or better.

Monroe's ace, Gary Petit, worked with reserve golfer Ryan Latimer for a 74. Mitch McArdle and Alex Holmes totaled 79 strokes.

Jeff Lund and Justin Brady of Oregon pooled their efforts to post a tourney-best 67.
