MADISON - The Albany volleyball team swept three matches in the season-opening quad in dominating fashion.
"They surprised me," Albany coach Connie Wunschel said of the Comets. "It showed the girls we have something to look forward to."
The Comets (3-0) defeated Madison Abundandt Life 25-17, 21-25, 25-16. Albany senior Kirstie Kauk had 14 service points including a 12-point run and added three aces. Senior Carlie Peters had nine service points and two aces.
The Comets beat Poynette 25-17, 25-12, 18-25 and defeated Cambria-Friesland 25-10, 25-13, 25-22.
Peters had five aces and 12 service points against Poynette. Julia Farley added 10 service points.
Farley had 14 service points and three aces against Cambria-Friesland. Kauk had four aces including three straight. Felicia Conley added eight service points.
Albany along with Darlington, Black Hawk, Juda and Monticello will be in action at the Six Rivers Jamboree tournament on Saturday in Monticello.
"That will be a tell tale for me as far as what conference will bring for us," Wunschel said. "I think they know what to keep doing to have success."
