PRAIRIE DU CHIEN - The Darlington-Cuba City girls golf team on Wednesday extended its season at least one more meet by finishing second in the Prairie du Chien regional.
The Redbirds collected a team score of 415, well behind golfing powerhouse and first-place Madison Edgewood's 339, but 13 strokes better than Lancaster to claim a sectional berth.
"This is our best finish since 2003," head coach Gary Ringen said. "It's also the best regional score since then."
Junior Ali McCauley led Darlington with a round of 93. Also figuring into the scoring were sophomore Nellie Black (101), senior Dani Larson (109) and junior Taylor Burke (112).
The Redbirds head to sectionals Oct. 7 at Trapper's Turn in Wisconsin Dells. Joining them will be Edgewood, Lancaster and fourth-place Wisconsin Dells.
