MONROE - Madison Edgewood's No. 5 golfer Mathew Phelan shot a 34 for even par to lead the Crusaders to a 145-167 win over the Monroe High School boys golf team Monday at the Monroe Country Club.

"I was thinking that we would all have to shoot in the 30s to have a chance," Monroe golf coach Braden Rindy said. "I knew it would be really hard to beat them. I just wanted them to go out and play well since we have (the) conference (meet) coming up. We are still not quite clicking."

Monroe senior Devon Boeck shot a 4-over 38. Boeck birdied No. 7 and also posted four pars.

Junior Collyn Wilde racked up six pars and finished with a 5-over 39.

Sophomore Jack Rogerson carded a 44, and freshman Noah Becker shot a 46 to round out the top four for the Cheesemakers.

Monroe drops to 1-4 in the Badger South.

Rindy is still looking for the Nos. 3 through 5 golfers to develop some consistency.

"They need to get more consistent with their chipping and putting," he said.

Monroe will wrap up the conference portion of its season with a match at Oregon today. The Cheesemakers will play in the Badger Conference tournament May 17 at the House on the Rock Golf Course in Spring Green.
