MONROE - The Monroe High School baseball team received a No. 3 seed and will open up the WIAA Division 2 regional tournament May 26 by hosting Clinton at 5 p.m. at the high school.

The WIAA released the seeds and matchups Thursday.

Monroe (10-12) will look to make a run to the regional championship game like the it did last year.

"We would have loved to put ourselves in a position to get the No. 2 seed," Monroe coach Dustin Huffman said. "Evansville beat us head-to-head, so we kind of figured we would be the No. 3 seed. We were the No. 3 seed last year, and we upset Beloit Turner. We will be looking to do something similar to that."

Evansville received a bye as the No. 2 seed. If Monroe beats Clinton, the Cheesemakers would play at Evansville in a regional semifinal game on May 31.
