Monroe Blues went 0-2 last weekend, look to change their luck tonight

MONROE - The Monroe Blues adult hockey team had rough two-game homestand going 0-2 last week.

In a game Jan. 19 game vs West Bend, Monroe lost 11-5.

Monroe goals were scored by Carl Vanko (two),  Phil Hoss, Ryan Roeming and Mike Miller with one each. Assists went to Gottlieb Brandli III and Miller, two each, and Tyler Johnson with one. Goalie Matt Zapp had 50 saves.

In the game Jan. 20 against Fond Du Lac, the Blues lost 9-6.

Goals came from Brad Gicopoulos and Vanko with two each, and Eric Lindberg and Roeming both added one. Assists came from Gicopoulos (three), and Brandli, Hoss, Roeming and Johnson each with one. Zapp had 47 saves.

"We scored enough goals to win games, we just need to tighten up our defense," coach Godi Brandli II said.

Monroe is in eighth place out 10 team in the Great Lakes Hockey League.

Monroe's next game is tonight at home at 8 p.m. against the Eagle River Falcons. The first period intermission entertainment will be the Monroe Youth Hockey Association's Mite U-8 team. Players will be Barrett Brandli, Wesley Dammen, Jaxson Daughenbaugh, Clayton Downs, Blake Folgate, Brennan Goode, Brogan Hoelscher, Emma Janecke, Zane Picker, Michael Santiago and Lane Schilt. Coaching the youth will be Monroe Blues player Paul Morris, with Brian Hoelscher and Brett Janecke assisting. Tina Folgate is the team manager.
