FOND DU LAC — The Rock County Fury traveled to Fond du Lac for a pair of games against the Eau Claire Stars and Black River Falls Tigers on Dec. 28-29.
Although the Fury dropped both games, goaltender Jillian Traver held strong, tallying 68 saves on 75 shots for a .906 save percentage. On the season, Traver has saved 406 of 444 shots for a .914 save percentage.
Rock County was shut out in its game against Eau Claire, 4-0. Addison Gruhlke and Evelyn Kolar were a thorn in the Fury’s side, as each tallied four points from two goals and two assists. Kennedy Gruhlke and Nora Berg each recorded an assist. Rock County put just 12 shots on Amy Thul in goal.
In game two, the Fury fell just short to the Tigers 3-2. The first period was a wash, as Marah Noth scored for Black River Falls and Claudia Boehlke answered four minutes later. The Tigers scored two goals in the second, and Emma Kligora was able to cut the deficit in half with her own goal. For the remaining 20 minutes of the game, though, the Fury were unable to put another shot passed Black River Falls’s Sydney Magnuson.
