Cards win home quad, girls finish second at Cougar Relays

LAKE GENEVA — The Monroe Cheesemakers ran in the Badger Invitational at Lake Geneva on Friday, May 1 and the boys team placed second with 113.5 points. Cary-Grove, Illinois won the meet with 154 points. The Cheesemaker girls took third place with 98 points, behind Cary-Grove, Illinois with 167.7 points and Lake Geneva Badger with 136 points.

In boys competition, Monroe senior Jy’Shon Broitzman was first in the 100 meter dash in 11.47 seconds. Senior Noah Spotts was first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.98 seconds. In the 800 meter run, sophomore Weston Huntsman finished second in 2:09.17. Senior Brady Keehn was sixth in the 1,600 (4:59.93). In the 3,200 meter run, sophomore Lucas Veeder placed fifth (11:04.76).

Senior Will Keehn won the 110 meter hurdles (16.40 seconds). Sophomore Killian Wild was third (16.80). Will Keehn placed third in the 300 meter hurdles (41.61) and senior Frank Wolf was fourth (44.34).

Monroe took first place in the 4x100 meter relay as sophomore Riley Blum, senior Jy’Shon Broitzman, senior Mekhi Brown, and senior Noah Spotts completed the relay in 44.28 seconds. Frank Wolf claimed second place in the triple jump (38 feet, 9 inches). In the discus, sophomore Tristan Anderson was fourth (133-7) and senior Peyton Herbst was fifth (129-10). Senior Waylon Yoder was third in the shot put (53-0). Herbst had a toss of 46-1, which placed fifth.

The girls results had senior Miley Hanson placing fifth in the 200 meter dash in 28.32 seconds and second place in the 400 meter dash (1:01.20). Senior Mya Wild won the 800 (2:29.47). Junior Nevaeh Huenefeld came in fourth (2:34.03). Sophomore Victoria Wolf got a second place finish in the 3,200 (11:52.44) and sophomore Kaylen Cassidy was fourth (12:20.62).

Senior Brooke Bunker finished third in the 100 meter hurdles in (17.82). In the 4x100 meter relay, the Cheesemakers took fifth place (55.12) with freshman Alexa Altmann, sophomore Althea Sweeney, senior Alexis Elgin, and freshman Maya Eddy running. Monroe's team of Victoria Wolf, Nevaeh Huenefeld, junior Lyla Ritschard, and Mya Wild won the 4x800 meter relay (10:24.90).

Miley Hanson placed second in the high jump(4-6). In the triple jump, Hanson placed second (33-5). Senior Aniyah Jackson-Bey was third with a triple jump (31-0.75). Freshman Mallory Palleson was seventh in the discus (92-4) and 10th in the shot put (27-9.75).

Evansville RVC Quad

EVANSVILLE — The Cheesemakers went a perfect 6-0 in winning the Evansville Rock Valley Conference boys and girls quadrangular on Tuesday, April 28.

In boys, senior Noah Spotts was first in the 100 meter dash (11.64). Senior Mekhi Brown was third (11.74). In the 200 meter dash, junior Kamrin Gerber-Reamer finished second (23.24). Spotts was right behind him, taking third (23.44). Gerber-Reamer was second in the 400 meter dash (51.34).

In the 1,600 meter run, sophomore Weston Huntsman, junior Eli Phillips, senior Brady Keehn, and sophomore Lucas Veeder finished second, third, fourth, and fifth with Huntsman leading the pack (4:50.90). Huntsman also placed second in the 3,200 meter run (10:41.90).

Will Keehn was the first place finisher in the 110 meter hurdles (16.14). Sophomore Killian Wild won the 300 meter hurdles (43.34).

Monroe was first in the 4x100 meter relay (46.64), first in the 4x200 (1:33.90), first in the 4x400 (3:39.50), and first in the 4x800 (9:18.40).

Junior Lukas Gerber finished in second place in the high jump (5-8). Kingston Stefenel-Turner was third with a high jump (5-6). Frank Wolf captured the triple jump (41-5). Waylon Yoder was first place in both the discus (169-10) and shot put (54-1).

The girls results saw Monroe put together a pack of runners at the front of the 100 yard dash with Miley Hanson (13.34), freshman Micki Andrews (13.84), sophomore Lauren Zentner (14.04), and freshman Maya Eddy (14.14) finishing third-fourth-fifth-sixth. The Cheesemakers did virtually the same thing in the 200 meter dash with senior Maya Wild second (27.64), Micki Andrews third (28:04), sophomore Althea Sweeney fourth (30.24), and freshman Alexa Altmann fifth (30.34). Wild was the winner of the 400 meter dash (1:01.64).

Monroe had five of the top six runners in the 800 meter run as sophomore Alivia Mosher was second, Miley Hanson third, senior Aniyah Jackson-Bey and freshman Elizabeth Veeder tied for fourth with identical times of 2:38.20, and junior Lyla Ritschard was sixth.

The Cheesemakers also had five of the top six runners in the 1,600 meter run. Finishing second thru fifth were sophomore Victoria Wolf, junior Nevaeh Huenefeld, sophomore Kaylen Cassidy, Elizabeth Veeder, and Lyla Ritschard. Monroe also maintained its dominance in long distance running by taking the top five spots in the 3,200 meter run with Wolf (13:34.80), Huenefeld (13:35.20), Cassidy (13:35.50), freshman Ally Miller (13:36.90, and freshman Natalie Coy (14:44.30).

Senior Brooke Bunker finished in first place in the 100 meter hurdles (17.24) and in the 300 meter hurdles (53.24). Monroe nearly swept the relays as they came in first in the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400. They finished third in the 4x800.

Junior Braylee Friedrich took first and Miley Hanson took second place in the pole vault as both cleared 4-10. Althea Sweeney, Elizabeth Veeder, and Braylee Friedrich went 1-2-3 in the long jump with Sweeney reaching 14-4. Hanson, Friedrich, and junior Willow Stroede captured first, second, and third in the triple jump with Hanson taking the honors (34-7.75).

Anna Zentner was second in the pole vault (8-6) and sophomore Lauren Zentner was third (7-0).

Micki Andrews won the shot put with a toss of 30-10.75. The top discus throw for the Cheesemakers was by Mallory Palleson (fifth, 85-7).

Brodhead RVC Quad

BRODHEAD — The Brodhead-Juda Cardinals were winners in both boys and girls track at the Rock Valley Crossover Quad at Brodhead on Tuesday, April 28.

Brodhead won the boys meet with 79.5 points and the Cardinals were first in the girls meet with 80 points.

In the boys 100 meter dash, junior Cohen Nenze was second with a time of 11.44 seconds. In the 400 meter dash, senior Mavrik Plummer was first (50.44) and senior Jorge Villalva was second (55.84). Plummer also took first place in the 800 (1:57.60). Junior Treyton Leutenegger was third in the 3,200 meter run (12:13.00).

Sophomore TJ Hall captured the 110 meter hurdles (17.64). Senior Nolan Bump (41.94) and TJ Hall (46.24) went first and second in the 300 meter hurdles.

The Cardinals won the three relay races, finishing first in the 4x200 (1:36.40), 4x400 (3:38.90), and 4x800 (9:24.20).

Senior Simon Moore took home first place in the high jump (5-4). Cohen Henze was first in the long jump (19-6). Freshman Malachi Shank was the first place finisher in the triple jump (36-5). In the pole vault, Simon Moore finished in second place (11-0).

Junior Logan Berzinski had the best discus throw, taking first place (134-10). Sophomore Xavier Duncan (43-2.5) and senior Jordan Dix (41-5).

On the girls side, freshman Gracie Hefty was the top finisher for Brodhead-Juda in the 100 meter dash, taking fourth place in 13.64 seconds. Hefty was second in the 200 meter dash (28.54). Freshman Montana Restivo placed fourth in the 400 (1:07.94). In the 800 meter run, junior Avalynn Plummer finished in second (2:43.00). Sophomore Rachel Hatter grabbed second place in the 1,600 meter run (6:26.50). Hatter was fourth in the 3,200 (14:08.30).

The 100 meter hurdles belonged to junior Chesney Walker (17.94). The Cardinals also took first place in the 300 meter hurdles as junior Elliana Shank finished with a time of 52.14.

Brodhead-Juda won two of the three relay races as the 4x100 team won it in 54.44 seconds and the Cardinals were first in the 4x400 (4:35.20).

Freshman Ella Olson was first in the high jump (4-8). Olson finished second in the long jump (15-9.25). Junior Kennedi Lerch of Brodhead-Juda was in the long jump (16-1.25).

In the triple jump, freshman Macy Gretebeck came in third place (30-8.5). Junior Lillian Sievers was second in the pole vault (8-0) and senior Gretchen Kammerer was third (7-0).

Senior Annelise Bethke won the discus (107-7). She placed fourth in the shot put (27-1).

Cougar Relays

JANESVILLE — The Brodhead-Juda Cardinals girls track team earned second place with 98 points at the Cougar Relays in Janesville on Friday, May 1. Lakeside Lutheran won the meet with 131 points. Brodhead-Juda's boys team finished seventh (62 points).

In girls, the Cardinals were led by sophomore Rachel Hatter, who finished third in the 3,200 (13:49.94). The 4x100 shuttle hurdle relay team took first place (50.16). The 4x100 meter relay team was fourth (53.46). The 4x800 meter relay team was third (11:25.52).

In the high jump, both freshman Ella Olson and freshman Gracie Hefty placed second (4-6). Junior Elliana Shank won the long jump (15-11.5) and Kennedi Lerch was fourth (14-10.5). Brodhead-Juda got another first place finish in the pole vault as Lillian Sievers tied for first (7-6).

The Brodhead-Juda boys were led by senior Tegan Pinnow, who had two second place finishes — high jump (5-10) and long jump (20-2.5). Junior Landen Malcook was fourth in the long jump (19-9). Senior Simon Moore was fourth in the pole vault (11-0).

The Cardinals were winners of the 4x100 shuttle hurdle relay (41.41). In the discus, junior Logan Berzinski was ninth (134-4). Sophomore Xavier Duncan took 10th in the shot put (40-7.5). Senior Jordan Dix was 11th (40-4.5).

Cuba City Invitational

CUBA CITY — The Darlington Redbirds boys and Argyle-Pecatonica girls track teams came back with favorable results at the Christopher Becker Memorial Invitational at Cuba City on Thursday, April 30.

Darlington boys won the 4x200 meter relay with junior Peyton Dempsey, sophomore Ryder Fitzsimons, junior Calum Crist, and junior Zeke Zuberbuhler winning with a time of 1:33.81.

Sophomore Ayden Slater of Argyle-Pec took second in the triple jump (38-11.25). Senior Kamron Parker of Albany was third (38-8.5). Junior Gage Ruf of Darlington won the discus (146-0).

On the girls side, senior Mya Milz of Black Hawk was second in the 400 meter dash (1:04.53). Freshman Alaina McGowan of Darlington was second in the 800 meter run (2:24.63). Senior Loretta Tisch of Argyle-Pecatonica was third in the 100 meter hurdles (17.22) and junior Brooke Wellnitz of AP was fourth (17.23). Junior Aleah Harris of AP finished third the 300 meter hurdles (53.23) while Wellnitz was fourth (54.09). Harris was also second in the long jump at (15-5).

Darlington girls won the 4x800 meter relay with junior Madison Welacha, freshman Alaina McGowan, junior Brianna Vazquez, and senior Adalee Berget finishing with a time of 9:55.96. Sophomore Makayla Curran placed second in the triple jump, measured at 32-7.75.
